Production Process
Our coconut shell activated carbon is produced through a two-stage process to ensure optimal quality:
- Carbonization: Coconut shells are pyrolyzed at 600-850°C in an inert atmosphere to form charcoal, removing volatiles and creating a carbon-rich base.
- Activation: The charcoal undergoes steam or chemical activation (e.g., with phosphoric acid) at high temperatures to develop a vast internal pore structure, enhancing adsorption capabilities.
This process utilizes renewable coconut shells, promoting sustainability and reducing environmental impact compared to fossil fuel-based alternatives
Applications
Coconut shell activated carbon excels in a wide range of industries due to its microporous nature, which is particularly effective for adsorbing small-molecule contaminants. Common applications include:
- Water Purification: Removal of chlorine, organic compounds, pesticides, and heavy metals in municipal and industrial water treatment systems.
- Wastewater Treatment: Efficient adsorption of dyes, phenols, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in effluent streams.
- Air and Gas Purification: Elimination of odors, solvents, and harmful gases in HVAC systems, respirators, and industrial exhaust.
- Precious Metal Recovery: Gold adsorption in mining operations for high-yield extraction.
- Food and Beverage Processing: Decolorization and purification in sugar refining, beverage production, and edible oil processing.
- Pharmaceutical and Medical: Emergency detoxification for poisoning and drug overdoses, as well as purification in drug manufacturing.
- Environmental Remediation: Soil and groundwater cleanup by adsorbing pollutants like hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents.
Packaging and Storage
- Standard Packaging: 25 kg multi-layer paper bags, 500 kg super sacks, or bulk shipments.
- Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong oxidants. Avoid exposure to moisture to maintain adsorption performance.
